The Endom Bridge is named after Robert and Fred Endom, who played a key role in connecting Monroe and West Monroe starting in 1895. Fred was the first to cross the DeSiard Street bridge when it opened on July 4, 1899. In 1988, the bridge was renamed in their honor, with plaques installed at both ends.
