Network Engineer

Position Summary

The position requires a working knowledge of administering and maintaining IP network infrastructures, including IP connectivity and communications, and an understanding of firewalls, MS servers, and desktop operating systems. Duties include but are not limited to the following and Kinetix Management Team may assign additional tasks.

 

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

  • Ability to perform excellent networking installation, management, and troubleshooting skills
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal & customer Networks and related infrastructures
  • Specifically the following:

Perimeter Gateway Security appliances

Managed Routers/Switches, VLANS and Wireless Networks

Network Management applications

  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a functional real-time monitoring system for Kinetix network(s)
  • Document customer networks and new installs into the Kinetix Help Desk application
  • Promotes responsible usage and care of company equipment
  • Participate in On-Call rotation for support of Kinetix customers
  • Learn and understand the Kinetix NOC and assist Sr. Personnel in support of Kinetix Internet line of business
  • Overall, the employee will be expected to support customer requests directly related to Networking and Server issues
  • Normal business hours are stated below. Technology issues will be addressed, and work will be performed as necessary, especially concerning customer downtime or the Kinetix Internet network
  • Perform overall customer satisfaction concerning company policy
  • Ability to stay current with technology trends

This includes the above-referenced activities and additional assigned tasks to be performed at customer sites and from the Kinetix NOC.

 

Qualifications / Required Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of the Internet, Inter-networking, IOS, Firewalling, DNS, IP Addressing, DHCP, and MS Windows Server OS
  • NET+, SonicWALL CSSA, Cisco IOS or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Wireless Networking
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with firewall functionality, configuration, and problem resolution.
  • Knowledge of Managed Switch Infrastructure and VLANs

Company Requirements

  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Proof of US Citizenship
  • No felony arrests
  • Dress and appearance should be business casual and grooming according to Kinetix Handbook and position

  • Salary and benefit offerings
  • Confidential, important, and/or proprietary technical information concerning the Company’s products and activities
  • Business plan and plan of operations
  • All customer information, including but not limited to the following: customer lists, proposals, invoices, financial statements, non-published price lists, trade secrets, and business models.
